After a short vacation during the Christmas break in 1969-70, we found that we enjoyed traveling, but did not feel that we would be able to afford it if we were to stay in hotels/motels.  We determined to purchase a tent and other camping equipment, then after only one spring weekend in the tent at Long Lake near our home area, we headed off to the Colorado Rockies in June, 1970.  That was followed by three more "tent camping" trips to the Rockies and many summer tenting weekends in Wisconsin.  In 1974 we "graduated" to a fold out camper and took yet another trip to the Rockies as well as a trip around Lake Superior.  By 1976 we had moved up another step... ...to a 24 foot travel trailer.  Between then and 2003 we owned six travel trailers, from 24 to 27 feet.  After retiring in 2000 and trying our hand at being short term snowbirds (to Arizona) in 2001 and 2002, we found that we could live close together for an extended period of time, so by 2003 we tried a three-month stay.  Carol's cancerous brain tumors returned, so we had to head back to Wisconsin early, but we found that the 27 foot travel trailer was a bit cramped.  While Carol was taking her chemo again to knock out the tumors, we bought a 35 foot fifth wheel camper and a diesel pickup to pull it.

We are now at the point where most of our camping colleagues call it "RVing" instead of "camping".  And they say we are in an RV Resort, not a campground.  Its hard to change our vocabulary at this age though...  ...SO to us it still is "camping".
